Mary's Fiat

Back in April when I did the Saints Meme, I listed the Blessed Virgin Mary as one of my favorite saints. I wrote the reason for choosing Her:

"Our Lady...the ultimate Mother. Why do I love her so? There is a great deal that I can say, but the most meaningful thing for me is Mary's FIAT...her YES to God."

Mary's "yes" is a powerful inspiration for me. In the past few years it has been a guiding force in my life. I've been trying to keep God's will for me in mind whenever I make a decision. Over the past year my husband and I have brought three siblings into our home - ages 2, 4, & 6. We're in the process of adopting them. Following the will of the Father, and trusting in Him was a huge factor in our decision to expand our family this way.

Any "yes" I give is not even close to our Blessed Mother's ultimate "yes," which had a profound effect on all mankind. Of course it would be impossible for me to measure up to that, but I should strive to trust in God throughout my life.
