Christmas In July: Summer Devotion for Holy Souls

Holy Cards for your Inspiration.

It's been said that most Holy Souls in Purgatory are released at Christmas time.

In Summer Devotions for the Holy Souls, author and lecturer, Susan Tassone, founder of the Holy Souls Mass Apostolate, invites us to give the Holy Souls "Christmas in July." She states that summer is:

"...a time to relax, vacation and travel. Unfortunately, for the Holy Souls suffering in Purgatory, they never have time off. They suffer day and night, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. We may tend to forget our Holy Heroes when they need us most desperately. What an ideal time to help them and ourselves!

Tassone suggests a terrific summer devotion for the Holy Souls - assist at Holy Mass and pray the Stations of the Cross for the Holy Souls in Purgatory (by Susan Tassone) daily for 33 consecutive days for the poor souls in honor of Our Lord's 33 years.

With July dedicated to the Precious Blood, Tassone says we should "frequently offer the Precious Blood to the Eternal Father for the relief of the souls languishing in Purgatory."

Have fun this summer, dear readers, and remember the Holy Souls in your prayers. They will surely remember you once they get to Heaven.

If one knew what we may obtain from God by the intercession of the Holy Souls, they would not be so much abandoned. Let us pray a great deal for them, they will pray for us. ~ St. John Vianney
