Devotions Meme Takes On A Life Of Its Own

When I started the Catholic Devotions Meme on December 21, I didn't realize how it would spread like wildfire throughout the Catholic blogosphere. I tagged five people, and from there it took on a life of its own. It is interesting to see where it has turned up.

This spiritual questionnaire was completed by all types of Catholics: A-list bloggers (Professional Catholics), B-Team bloggers(Amateur Catholics), Catholic Blog Award Winners, traditionalists, Catholic converts, Catholic reverts, Catholic homeschoolers, Catholic moms and dads, Catholic apologists, pro-lifers, first time meme-er's, and just your 'average Joe Catholic' like me. Even a soon-to-be Catholic joined in the fun (way to go Kacy at Meandering Home).

My meme had a total of thirteen questions - with # 13 being the bonus question. Some of you broke out of the original 13 question mold, and added your own questions:

At some point another bonus question was added - Have you named your Guardian Angel?

Someone changed my bonus # 13 to # 14, and made question # 13 - Where is your favorite place to pray?

Terry Nelson at Abbey-Roads (now Abbey-Roads 2) added a 14th question - Do you tip your hat or make the sign of the cross when you pass a Catholic Church out of reverence for the Blessed Sacrament?

Wolftracker at Kansas City Catholic decided to "tweak the meme, to keep it from being an exercise in the self-promotion of one's claimed piety..." so he offered this double bonus question - What public sin do you find most difficult to manage from day to day?

Then there is Helen's (Castle of the Immaculate) bonus question: If you could visit any of Our Lady's apparition sites, which one would you choose?

Let the Little Ones Come decided to add a bonus picture to the meme - Jennifer's baby holding a rosary!

I like what Terry Nelson at Abbey-Roads said about this meme, "...it's a good examine in a way...we can learn from others when we share some of our practices with one another."

Dust I Am over at Dust of the Time, rarely participates in such things, but believes "the questions address the positive actions we should engage in as Catholics, and provide an excellent incentive to develop New Year's resolutions."
